Dear NYC,

I can’t believe I’m wearing shorts in the spring or do I always feel cold because I am of Africa?
Ok seriously, last week was busy and fun. A few months ago, I got invited to be a panelist on the event called Creative and Cultivate. I know right, I was so honored to be speaking at this big women empowerment event and I couldn’t wait for the day to come. Also, I love NYC when it’s not winter. I’m more of a summer girl and my biggest fear is feeling uncomfortable in the cold so it worked just perfectly for me.
We got to NYC on Tuesday for Create and Cultivate, we explored the city before my big day which was on Saturday. We had some time to explore the Manhattan and capture my style as always. What I love about New York is how fast and easy it is to get around, I’m talking about the subway specifically. Also the people are so nice and free spirited.
Since the following day was going to be a very busy day for me (I had a lot of meetings lined up) I wanted to just relax and have some real NYC moments.

We spent some time in Queens and made our way to Manhattan where these images were taken. Also, I visited my favorite burger restaurant (bare burger), had like two burgers and a shake. Well, it was cheat day so I went all in. We had sometime with friends and some alone time as well.
The day went by so fast, it was dark and time for bed to get ready for a busy meeting day the next day. On Wednesday (the next day) I had five meetings spread out all over Manhattan so yes, it was time for a beauty sleep.
This post is just the beginning of my amazing time in NYC, I can’t wait to share the rest with you guys which is coming soon.

Thanks for reading.

I saw you on a lot of IG Stories at Creative and Cultivate and wanted to say congrats! All your amazing work is paying off and so happy to see you on the panel! I love that you combined the prints of polka dots and the details of the shorts together. The pop of red in the shoes and bag add so much to this look as well. I can't wait to hear about your experience about speaking and being a part of the panel. You are truly an inspiration babe! xoxo, Christine

You say you're always cold, well I'm always hot, so this look would work for me any time of year! I just love the way you mixed prints in this look. So bold, yet so chic! The thing I love about NYC is that there's always something to do and enjoy. I look forward to the rest of your pics :)

Agh congratulations on speaking at such a cool event. Thank you for sharing your experience in New York with us. I too agree that it is so nice when the weather in NYC is not freezing to death. Shorts in New York is something you don't see very often. Haha. Really cute outfit as well my dear. <3

I love NY any time of the year even though I am always cold. I was in NY during Fashion Week so I wore the heck out of a hot pink fur jacket with a romper and leather shorts. I love how you matched the polka dot blouse with your shorts. Thank you for sharing.

I love that pair of shorts from Alice and Olivia. Not because they are founded in NYC and I'm always a big fan of NYC, just simply because I love their designs! This pair would be great for the upcoming summer too ;)

I've only been to NY once this February, and I'm already thinking of when I can go back to visit. It is an amazing city with so much to do! I hope you enjoy your stay in Manhattan. Seriously in love with those embroidered shorts!

I'm so happy you've clarified that New Yorkers are indeed nice haha! We typically have a reputation for being rude but as you've experienced we're not all like that :) New York weather has been so crazy lately. It's been a little chilly and rainy this weekend so you came at the right time! Your event sounds amazing! Congratulations on being on the panel!

I'd love to wear shorts and even though I'm not of Africa, I feel like I'm always cold, even in the summer, haha. These look amazing on you though and I'm glad you had a warm start to your NYC trip. I can't wait to hear more about what you're up to and especially from that panel on Saturday. And I just love it how you captured the iconic New York cabs in this photo shoot!
